Growing Old Together

what possible option
can age give us?

now that twilight has come
its hands caressing our weary hairs
ah, there is something yet
that must fulfill itself that
promise to
grow old together the acceptance that
our flesh has surrendered finally
giving in
to the triumph of the spirit
bending itself to the fading light
of our
younger days

we shall be holding our
hands
as we sleep tonight
