Entangled By Old Roots
time knows how to choke a face
like yours
time like roots of the banyan tree
smothers a face like yours
and you let it be
as you close your eyes and surrender
to this kind of death that for all these years
you have been asking
in your hundred patient prayers
your face is this stone
and these roots have entangled
what you do not really own
