A Tribute To Hope

when hope dies
a cheap funeral is due
the coffin is made of
old mahogany
the flowers are
improvised colored
Japanese paper
cut by ordinary women
of the town
the candles are
recycled
the room is dimly
lighted
with a coconut oil lamp
the mourners
are the very same people
that killed it.
