Your Conscience
Promises, promises, I've heard them all before.
I know… you won't do it again, you're absolutely sure.
I must try and find forgiveness in my heart for your mistake,
it will never happen again, it's a promise for heaven's sake.
In a rare moment of weakness, temptation wore you down,
your resistance deserted you, you became lost and then found.
Your eyes are sore and red, your pillow's soaked with tears,
and what do you have to do to prove that you're sincere.
You say that you love me and maybe you do in your way,
but obviously it's not enough to stop you going astray.
Your conscience got the better of you and wouldn't let you be,
and now it's also saying that you're not meant for me.
