I'll Never Forget

You only told me of your love affair to hurt me,
and to ease your troubled mind.
You never considered that you would puncture my heart,
you were thoughtless and unkind.

You were afraid of being discovered,
afraid that someone might spill the beans.
You knew the consequences if that were to happen,
the irreparable damage to my pride, as well as to my dreams.

You chose your moment well, I must say,
it was already the worst moment of my life.
Our youngest son lay dying in his hospital bed,
and you chose this time to confess being an unfaithful wife.

Did you think it would make me feel better
hearing that your affair was over.
At this moment I hate the very ground you walk,
and it would've been better if you had stayed with your lover.

I suppose for the benefit of our other children
I had better learn to forgive,
but there's one thing for sure I'll never forget
for as long as we both shall live.
