Doom and Gloom

The numbered pages on the day calendar
are being flipped over with trepidation.
The days are shorter since the trouble began
and there's no way to end this situation.

The population are being kept in the dark
about the Earth's rotation and its rate.
Every hour of the clock is still decreasing,
and we're moving towards the end of our fate.

The news says the planet's dangerously spinning
and we are staring disaster in the face.
We're going too fast to sustain life as we know it
and it's likely we'll be thrown into space.

We could leave the 'Milky Way' far behind us,
and maybe become swallowed by a black hole.
All proof of our existence could vanish forever,
there'll be no past and no future to unfold.
