A Courtesy Cough

I’ve often imagined this situation
when we’re together alone.
I visualise this romantic setting,
with the soft lights and music tone.

We whispered love words of magic,
which set our hearts on fire.
Our fingers touched for connection
leading to an eager desire.

An even softer, more intimate whisper
brought our faces to touch,
and then our lips gently kissed,
which we desired oh, so much.

A longer kiss this time with passion
brought us a taste of ecstasy.
Our fingers fondled our hair and faces,
we behaved so excitedly.

Tempting naked necks invited kisses,
tongues touched for the first time.
Pulses raced and heart’s throbbed faster,
to each other we tasted like wine.

There was no thinking at this moment
of the consequences of stop and go.
Her father coughed as he entered the room,
which swiftly ended our flow.
