Against The Siren's Song

The lovely blarney riding the undulating back
Of the feral tide was a euphonious provocation
But the sea is conquered by immense tails
That once sculled the waves to sail with me
But what my legs cannot kick in the water
Devoured the zithering call, and I pondered
For the hidden coves and glassy reefs
Why the harpist played this alluring lullaby -
Is this an invitation to a truant home,
An unstable current where I'll die alone?
Or was it the enthralling spell that sent
Many a seafarer into the salient sea boulders?
And down they sank into thousand fathoms
Into a place far enough to forget the sirens
And the delectable enchantment of their serenade.
