The Scaffolding

The poles and planks were erected.
And on the platforms the skinny people work for the buildings.
Day by day the skyscraper goes high with the workers
And they are very close to the Sun, Moon and Stars.
Though they love the Stars none of them aware of the heavenly bodies' language.
The construction was almost over and these hopeless souls returned to their tumbledown shacks.

I dedicate this poem to the contemporary poet Frank James Ryan, Jr. in gratitude.
