How Fast Is The Enemy?

But bites of gorgeous work
Are stupendous as flight and duty.
How can service be kept for the brave?
Armies relax to fight one more day,
Fast relief arrives once more.
I am a beleaguered warlord of height,
How fast does my enemy travel
To pick me up, to show me its strength?
Sentences concern me in this war
Of attrition, the war of oblivion.
