To II

Too long, my only, we have lain apart
Banished underneath your stern decree
The pillow that we shared is cold, my heart
And silent as it never used to be;
Sweetheart, start to remedy this hurt
Before this hurt surpasses remedy
Silence silence and disdainful banish
Bitter banishment, now and forever.
Ruddy oaths and odes eventuate
Surly silence sitting gagged and bound over
For, Banishment bound, company can flourish.
You are my impartial magistrate:
Softly judge, and these hard terms commute
That you alone have power to refute.
