Horace I: 34

I, who kicked against the goad,
impiety, vain sophistry leave now,
vow to fear God and coming hard a-
bout now steer my little boat to

ports of righteousness; for today
Jove, making him honors of man's amaze,
through a sky of peerless blue his horses
drove from the murk of no piled thunderhead;

such that dull earth shook and brooks
shook in their beds; as Tantalus across the
gulf probably shook and Styx beyond earth and
the sea even to skyfall, past the pillars of Hercules.

Nothing is impossible so God wills:
His wonders multiply. He nods
and Fortunes tinkling fingers wisk
her coveted crown from that head to this.
