Censored

Your body has outlived great lovliness-
fallen cities, scarred battle fields
tell of tumultuous yieldings, wasted pride
altars where men in ritual died.

Here beneath its shining tide
gently gathering, falling, rising,
sizzling merchants have gone down
princely barges long are drowned.

Still to all its treasures proved
one unwilling to be moved-
one its treasure long defied.

I have sacked its final plain
heard its mistress groan in pain-
plucked the ruby from the idol's eye
