If We Can Accept the Teaching of Our Lessons

Gentle is my touch...
After I have roughed you up,
And busted your gut.
To reveal to the both of us...
What can and can not be,
Taken for granted.
With that stage inviting us,
To take that next step to test.

And,
Only then...
Can we come to a compromise.
Knowing those limitations once unknown...
Have been exceeded.
With a test administered...
Receiving some surprising results,
Unexpected...
But reflecting a much needed comprehension.

Why getting to that point...
Has to be painfully exposed.
If we are to continue saying,
There is a respect...
For each other's needs.
Without providing the evidence...
Is a mystery assigned to mankind.
And that evidence is kept,
As if in a secretive treasure chest.
Teased by a key,
Left to dangle in suspense.

No longer will we use that as a requirement,
To express our love.
That expression of it...
Has finally come out of hiding.
Heated to be released and freed.
To unlock all that has blocked progress.

Upon that evidence being exposed,
A breathing becomes easier.
Without doubt to question.
Opening closed eyes wide.
To gaze upon a new avenue...
On a 'trip' one sought to take.
But clearly sees the pointlessness,
Of such mindless travels.

And destinations as they are...
You will then know I can be gentle.
And I will then know...
You no longer take me for a fool!
A new day dawns.

And a relationship shared,
That was thought to be unconditional...
Will always be ours to understand,
Some conditions must be applied...
To continue that growth we both admit,
Is wished.

If this journey is going to be taken together.

And those hidden boundaries,
Will then be distanced from our minds...
Forever.

And love,
Between us...
Will be all that is known,
And shown.

If we can accept...
The teaching of our lessons.
With those adjustments,
Defiantly held in a blinding stubbornness...
Now forcibly erased effectively from delusion.
And is gone from us,
To enjoy an established reality...
We have adopted.
And can say is unencumbered by ignorance.
