Before You Were Killed

Stop!
Why after your struggles,
To come to the light...
You seemed so urgent,
To travel back into the darkness?
What was there,
In that kind of sorrow that attracted?
Did you miss your anguish?
Did you feel
From that I held you back?

Stop!
Why after healing from wounds,
Did you wish to inflict more pain?
Help me understand this...now!
What was there for you to gain?
What in this life troubled you like that?
I want to understand...now!
But you rejected my helping hand!
You seemed determined,
To make that stand.

Stop!
Don't leave.
I continue in my mind to plead!
Don't go this way.
I continue to say.
You have ripped me into pieces.
Why did you wish my heart to crumble?
Did I deserve this mistreatment?
Did I deserve your selfishness released?

I did not try to block your desire to go.
But you tore me apart...
And wherever you may be,
'That' I want you to know!

Stop!
STOP!

If only time had stood still...
Before you were killed,
To hear me!
