Adopted Posterings
You may say you are an advocate,
To eliminate every crumb of unhappiness I feel.
You may claim from behind podiums,
From a platform that campaigns for solutions.
You may even roll up your sleeves,
To let the sweat on your arms gleam in the Sun.
With your travels done,
To and from every homeless shelter across the country...
Showing images of you with a bowl of soup,
In the center of attentive people reduced to poverty.
But I am willing to bet,
Your need for media exposure and the selling of books...
To keep your pockets free to fill with uncountable riches,
Will never desire a wish to exchange your lifestyle...
With that of many people living in urban blight,
For all of your 'adopted' posterings...
That proclaim to have tremendous empathy and love,
For those enforced to live...
In substandard conditions and situations.
That has never happened before.
And you do not need an entourage of devotees,
With leaflets, flyers and banners...
Emblazened with your image,
As someone's savior.
If a sincerety was inside of your heart,
It would not appear on every TV channel...
This time of the year.
If a sincerety was inside of your heart,
You'd be amongst those people...
You'd like to uplift with a greater sense of life,
On a daily basis.
To know what it takes to tolerate,
People like yourself...
Who use others to increase their own way of life,
Solely for the purposes to highlight their own advantage.
You may say you are an advocate,
To eliminate every crumb of unhappiness I feel.
You may claim from behind podiums,
From a platform that campaigns for solutions.
You may even roll up your sleeves,
To let the sweat on your arms gleam in the Sun.
But nothing you have done,
Will ever show...
You have a total commitment to embrace equality.
You might lose a few jewels if you did!
