Woman of the Earth

You are velvet understanding
Candles in the cold castle
I long for warmth that radiates purpose
Implosions break the blue sanctuary
We carry water from childhood
Old landmarks of home
Familiar stones of gray and granite

My tears never will stop
Your laughter is a stream
Your arms a church
We are all broken

I need elves
I need the seven dwarfs
Counting deer in the field
Bridges with vines
Country flowers
Fields where the land speaks
Songs from the meadows
Forests with poets
Let the wind ring
Old back roads

Whisper my love like a love letter
Talk to me of home and baking
Something good on the stove
Coffee in the kitchen
Your voice over the oak floors
Flowered dresses
Woman of the earth a gracious fire
