And Yet You Sing - 0246 - Initial Version
Is this voice voided, vision silenced spite
its pregnant beauty. Paling, stumbling
hesitating here, an offering
I've ventured though it stillborn seems tonight.
Sweet, I would sweep your soul to hold you tight,
touch friendship's tendrils, letting loose the spring
to free the wealth of tenderness within
despite forebodings, - for the arrow's flight
aim feathered well, tonight seems doomed to fail.
Why should the Future pale before the Past,
feelings forgotten, tossed before the gale?
Beyond the pale an outcast heart beats fast.
And yet you sing, and so the song it seems
may soothe a soul which still believes in dreams.
