Wesak Day Poem

a saffron
shrouded sun
the buddha

deliving us from
the womb of samsara
the buddha, dhama and sangha

wesak day
on the merit sharing table
a thousand light flickers

ego, too little of it
a rat would beat
you to a goal

too much of it
a tower of babel
would rise from
flat ground

a great wall
scaled mountains
to reach moon

angels grew horns
to challenge
God's plans

upsetting
whole creation

a great cauldron
was necessitated
to burn down
down great egos

the buddha helps
temper troubled souls
throwing them
enlightenment seeds
that sprout and bloom profusely
on the eight fold path
welcoming them
to the kingdom of nirvana
