You’ll be a true believer

Now if you load your rifle
with magazines pasted together
for a quick swap

and point it at the enemy
and pull the trigger
and do it right
in short bursts,

you’ll suddenly
know the meaning
of life and death

and when others die
next to you
while you go out on patrol

you’ll know
how unreasonable fate is
and that life’s an illusion

and you’ll be a true believer
in the almighty God

and somehow
and you’ll know
that He walks along.
