Selecting a reader

It really doesn’t matter
how she looks, although I would prefer
her to be pretty and maybe a little bit witty
with a good sense of humour
and maybe in the dead of the night
when life is at its loneliest
or early in the morning,
or any time will really do

she will find time,
maybe from a busy life,
or caring for her kids
to switch her computer on
and on the internet
find a line
which means something to her

and if she smiles, laughs, cries,
are infuriated, concerned
or thinks that my poems are utter rubbish
it doesn’t really matter
as she had seen the world,
through my eyes
and has experienced life
in a different way.
