Ashes to dust
What do you do when your darling’s
grey dark eyed wondrous cat,
lies stiff at the back door
next to the Wendy house?
If that cat follows you
out of love
when you are banned
to the flat
and makes your place its own
and loves you more
than any other.
It’s tragic when its existence
becomes one with its name
and it goes from ash to dust
and you may not even
put him in the ground.
Still life rushes past
and it’s really tragic
that every thing
only has a short stint
under the hot sun
and the blue sky
and destiny draws its final line,
for everything and everyone at a time
and the life energy
disappears to somewhere
while the sun still shines
for others that are in the same cycle.
