Adam

He had awakened from his sleep
and first his eyes opened
and above him the sun shone in its glory,

but a soft an arm folded
somewhat tender over him and strangely
he recognized it as if it was his own.

When he saw her for the first time,
still before her bright eyes folded open,
his breath was taken away as if he
was standing at a similar figure and he stared at her.

When she opened her eyes
he read love and utter joy in their depths
and he was more bewitched and in love
than he knew it to be possible
and to him she was absolutely woman.
