Out Of The Night

The singer sang a soft refrain,
standing so still out in the rain.
With such emotion she did sing
to whom this song, did appertain.

As peaceful as a lullaby,
her voice rose up and touched the sky.
Gentle on both the heart and mind,
like a freed bird, her notes did fly.

Who was she trying to persuade,
would she be leaving here dismayed.
As over hair and down her coat,
water tumbled in a cascade.

Out of the night his voice did sound,
as he traversed the sodden ground.
With arms outstretched he called her name,
and knew that here his bliss he’d found.
