Light The Flame!

we light the flame,
and carry the torch;
protecting the fire

from wind and rain,
and anything that would
extinguish!

stumbling, bumbling,
falling down, and getting
back up....

often times our own
worst enemy....
beliving we're alone

in the heat of the fray...
the sound of footsteps
behind us, tiny footsteps....

turning, we find
small children, all different
ages and colors;

male and female....
carrying small torches
waiting to be lit....

with the hope of
the future!
