Sunrise

When the sun comes up on the Eastern shore
and the sky becomes bright pink
I'm in awe and then I think
the luckiest person am I.

It's like a painted picture was brushed
by the hand of God at sea.
For a minute or two all's right with the world
for I feel sweet peace in me
as I see the colors on high.

Lost in the moment of incredible delight
and with my rod and reel in hand,
I forget about the waves near my feet
or the graininess of the sand
and the seagulls that I see fly.

This is the morning scene that's there
for the fishermen on the surf.
He breathes it in and fishes again,
comfortable with this surf
and the overhead colorful sky.
