Student Of Life

I should not be in a schoolroom seat
away from the sun,
away from the heat.
For my head is awash with book trivialities
away from the land,
away from the seas.

I long for the open air and the skies,
away from the questions,
away from replies.
For a boy to be saddled with so much learning,
away from the things
that keep him yearning
to me is just plain wrong.
