Sonnet #1

You are as close to me as is my breath,
never to be separated by my death.
For each day I inhale the sweetness of you
as does the grass of the morning's dew.
The honey that drips from my silver spoon
does not compare with how I swoon
just from the nearness of you.

Each and every moment that came our way
I've recorded in my mind and allow it to play
over and again like a sweet melody
that repeats itself with ecstasy.
You are the reason through all my years
that I thought I'd remain with all my fears
of never finding you,
but I did.
