Pursuit

Shall I try to escape you?
Never I say.
For the pursuit is a pleasure
I hope will stay.

Love must have both of us,
the one with the chase
and the one who pretends eluding
with a coy little face.

Shall I let you catch me?
'Of course' I say
but not right now,
on some other day.

For I'd miss the act
of being sought
and the wonderful feeling
of being caught.

Ah! to love
for the sport of it
is a game of lover's delight.
So let me enjoy this elusive game
'til you catch me tonight.
