Pain

Pain is only remembered while there.
As it leaves, it's lost.
Only the body remembers the cost
and the mind remembers the prayer
that suppliantly asked
for the pain to subside
and felt the tears
that were not cried.

"Please make it stop. Can't take anymore.
And when it's gone, is there more in store? "
Probably somewhere down the line
but while it's gone, you're doin' fine.
So enjoy the painless times you get
when future pain is not here yet.
