I Wish Your Days Had Been Longer

I wish your days had been longer,
my poet with beautiful words.
You left me and I no longer could hear the sound of birds.
They quieted down and then took flight.
And sounds were never the same.
Maybe they went with you, my love
and they I do not blame.
For had I been able to fly with them
and leave this lonely place.
Maybe I'd been able to find you
and see your beloved face.

All is different now you're gone,
nothing of worth anymore.
I pass my days one by one
and of the Gods implore
to allow me a quick exit
from this world that can never be
filled with delight and passion
to just live with monotony.
Each day I'm growing older
and gasp from slowing breath.
Is the only way for me to be with you
by praying for my death?
