I Had A Satin Dress

I had a satin dress I wore
only in the night.
I preened in front of the looking glass,
satisfied with the sight.

I would not wear it in the day,
afraid I would be seen
as someone who's high and mighty
and that would just demean

what that dress meant to me
and how it made me feel.
At night I an the belle of the ball,
a feeling no one can steal.
