Fate

Too often in life we find ourselves
going against the tide.
Mistakes are made and they follow us,
always at our side.
But every step of the way we move
whether early or late
is the lesson we came upon
and it became our fate.

Like salmon that swim fatally upstream
they probably aren't aware
of the likely outcome they will meet
or what they'll have to bear.
For our fate is tied up to our soul
which always guides our way.
One step at a time, a mistake or two
and fate will have its say.
