As Old As The Sea

Place the shell up to your ear.
Listen quietly and you will hear
the sound of the sea that gave it life
that says to you 'I'm near.
I've never been too far from you.
My creatures in the darkened blue
are in love with their home in its vastness
for it abounds with life as you do.

When you hear the sound of the shell
it will draw you back to the deep blue swell
where the tides are drifting with the moon
to remind you that there is no hell.
There's only the land and the sea, the sea.
It knows that it will always be.
And the shell that you hold up to your ear
reminds you of an ancient memory.
