Sonnet: How Labor’s lost!

A whiff of air can blow the castle down,
Of cards that takes so many hours to make;
A stamp by foot can make the children frown,
That pulls apart their sand-castle near lake.

The autumn wind brings down dry leaves and nuts;
A gust of wind brings down most ripened fruit;
A river-flood can wash away mud-huts;
The love of God can clear our bad habits.

One act of misdemeanor can ruin,
Our life’s honor and hard-earned name and fame;
One Word of God can cleanse away our sin,
And put Satan and world to utter shame.

One Word from God can bring the Doomsday soon,
When never shines thereafter, sun and moon.
