Your Loneliness

Sometimes you sit on your own
and loneliness creeps in,
it grabs and shakes you
into its submission,
and there is nothing you can do,
especially when you’re away from home.

You wish you’d sought
another road to travel,
one that didn’t lead you
to that spot where
happiness has abandoned you
to the feelings of loneliness.

You’re missing the conversation
from others you know
as you sit in solitary
on a picnic bench
in a far off land
with only your loneliness.
