Waking Of The Day

The shadows of night
fall across my desk
just before the dawn
to tantalize a dreaming mind
before they are gone.
Shadows of various sizes
in abundant shapes behold
to awake distant thoughts
with their resilient charms.
I sit alone in my silence
and watch them play
before they fade
at the waking of the day.
