Until The Day I Die

I often ponder
what will happen when I die;
I’ll climb those golden stairs
way up into the sky.
What will I find there
when I reach the top.
Will the gates be closed
with no one to let me in?
Or will they be open
with family and friends
to greet me there.
The answer eludes me
and I will go on pondering
until the day that I die.
