Little Things

They say that little things
are sometimes worth more than gold,
treasured mementoes we cling to from the past.
A small gift given
from an absent friend.
A family heirloom,
not worth much to anyone,
but to us a fortune there.
It could be anything
from a photograph to a lock of hair.
To us they mean more than money.
Those little things in our care.
