Intensity

Sometimes we meet someone
and our world spirals around.
Taking us to places, we should not go,
making us feel more
than we thought we were.

Filling our heads with dreams
of what a life we could lead.
Transporting us to places,
we’ve only dreamed about
far away from the realities
where our humdrum life resides.

We fly to the top of snow-capped mountains,
visit far off lands.
Within each other’s arms,
there is nowhere
that we cannot stand.

However, like so many things
we know our time is short
and we have to make
a lifetime in the few days we have got.
There is no counting costs,
no apologies to make.

Just regret it cannot last longer,
for we both know
soon you will be gone
leaving only memories
to haunt my very soul.

A soul you captivated
with your every wanton touch.
Before the next daybreak,
we both know
that you will be gone
never to meet again.
