Echo Of Your Footsteps

Every night I hear
the echo of your footsteps,
across the wooden floor.
They seem to be leading
out to the front door.

It happens every night,
since the day you left,
they are there to haunt me,
reminding me
what I should have done.

I should have begged
for your forgiveness,
for the mistakes I made.
Hoping you would forgive me,
and in my arms stayed.

But I didn’t,
and your gone now.
All I have is an empty heart,
memories I did collect,
and the lonely echo of your footsteps.
