Birds

I often sit in my car
and write a poem or two
and all the time my eyes
are gazing at the sky,
trying to identify
all the birds I see fly by.
As there is a moat
near where I sit
and the number of birds
increase during the summer months.
I watch them dive down
near to the waters edge
to take a quenching sip.
