Blessings Needed

Narrow roads and days with rain
Hone the man through life's seasons
Facing failures and some pain -
There's need for purpose and some reason.

But questions plague the righteous life
That lived at best, the Golden Rule,
For constant suffering and endless strife
Can break the back of the strongest mule.

Seems those who break the laws and such
Live life in velvet cushion, free!
Drink, make merry, and have so much
While the Good don't seem to have any.

Child, 'set your sights on things above'
And not on earthly things, ' t'was said-
But I was hoping the Lord above
Will bless me a little before I was dead.
