Backlash Blues
Langston hughes, nina simone
Mr. backlash, mr. backlash
Just who do think I am
You raise my taxes, freeze my wages
And send my son to vietnam
You give me second class houses
And second class schools
Do you think that alla colored folks
Are just second class fools
Mr. backlash, Im gonna leave you
With the backlash blues
When I try to find a job
To earn a little cash
All you got to offer
Is your mean old white backlash
But the world is big
Big and bright and round
And its full of folks like me
Who are black, yellow, beige and brown
Mr. backlash, Im gonna leave you
With the backlash blues
Mr. backlash, mr. backlash
Just what do you think I got to lose
Im gonna leave you
With the backlash blues
Youre the one will have the blues
Not me, just wait and see

It's like they had a backlash the first 11 years. I think the reason why it always seems like there's a backlash is because when bands are unknown, they only get written about by fans.
Obviously there will be a backlash. If you believe the hype you have to believe a backlash too. Any criticism we get, is always stuff we've already criticised ourselves.

Blues For Barack - Work Song
The glinty-eyed Roman faces in suits
that stand behind you
are all white, like the papers you sign.
the patrons at the bar in Birdland
would shout work work

I remember why he drank himself

in a small room at the Alvin. Do you?
There are nameless voices that cry out

Brickyard in Atlanta. Mr Backlash Mr Backlash

There Is A Backlash Passing
There is a backlash passing,
As if an eclipse comes to uncover.
Revealing less of a tolerance,
For excuses made for clever maneuvers.
People no longer hesitate,
To express their impatience.
There is a rise of agitation.
And a venting of displeasures meant.
There is a backlash passing,
As if an eclipse comes to uncover.
Revealing less of a tolerance,
For excuses made for clever maneuvers.
People are awkening,
From a sleep that had deceived.
And a demand for answers once smothered up...
Are breaking from the ranks of a conformity.
It is the economy that is doing it.
And the people want it known,
They are aware and conscious...
From a duping done that left them in a stupor bummed.

Censored by Minds Immature
Censored by minds immature.
But no less decadent.
And hardly pure.
But presentations with sensations,
Serves a self righteousness that stirs.
And those in position to protect pretentions,
Often receive the backlash,
They so justifully deserve.

There are now hundreds of thousands of new engineers that are being trained in China. If people start finding themselves losing their jobs, not to the Chinese here but because China has become such a dominant force - then there could very well be a backlash.

Instant Tunes
Instant tunes only just been made
Instant songs never to be played
Instant tunes hanging out to dry
Let me try to introduce you to
Instant tunes
Instant tunes
Instant tunes
Instant tunes
Ever and ever will they give us pleasure
Their instant, still instant
Like mother used to make it -- oh!
Instant tunes give instant cash
Make me want to start a backlash
Let me have the recipe
And make me some lovely, lovely
Instant tunes
Instant tunes
Instant tunes
Instant tunes
Ever and ever will they give us pleasure
Their instant, still instant
Like mother used to make it -- oh!
Ever and ever will they give us pleasure

Truth?
I've been burning
And dousing the flames
I feel the whiplash
Of the backlash on my face
I melt to sleep at night
But I wake to trip the day
Never for you never for me
Would I kiss your feet of clay
I'm still alive and so should I
Soak up the wave of compromise
Am I the victim of youth
Is this the truthh
Why don't you tell me
Why don't you tell me
There's no conscience
In charity or shame
The voice deceive me
But believe me its the same
I see the black in white
And the colour in the gray
Better for me better for you
Gonna bleach it all away
I'm still alive and so should I
Soak up the wave of compromise
I see the scars

A Killing
Buried at sea
the dead man lives, as if a blood
in a reliquary.
Remains of a day
were very volatile.The backlash
will start with a kiss of moon.
By the lack of a sin
you meet an ambush
lying in wait.
The severed hand will
hold the sunrise.
Who will write the epitaph?
A stunning breast, over your
reflection, the red rains
come for celebration.

Keep It Real and Often Stimulated
You want to keep it real and often stimulated.
No need to keep it on the downlow and degraded.
You ought to feel within yourself you are elated.
And then don't drag around behind you your mistakes,
You've made.
You want to keep it real and often stimulated.
No need to keep it on the downlow and degraded.
You ought to feel within yourself you are elated.
And then don't drag around behind you your mistakes,
You've made.
You want to keep it real and often stimulated.
That love.
No need to keep it on the downlow and degraded.
That love.
You ought to feel within yourself you are elated.
With love.
And then don't drag around behind you your mistakes,
You've made.
Keeping up with those downtown with sorrows and frowns...
Will keep your focus on the ground,
Even when the Sun's around.
Keeping up with those with a negative flair...
Returns and offers you backlash to grab.
With acceptance disconnected from a happiness had.
You ought to feel within yourself you are elated.
With love.
Created with love.
And related to love.
Keeping up with those with a negative flair...
Returns and offers you backlash to grab.
With acceptance disconnected from a happiness had.

Dissonance
To be or not to be
Was the dilemma of Hamlet.
To kill or not to kill
Had Arjun in torment.
To cross or not to cross
The Lakshman rekha was Sita’s constraint.
To accept or not to accept PM’s post
The fear of backlash made Sonia relent.
To send or not to send
My grand child to school is making me dissonant.
As there is too much
Angst and social discontent.

""Empathy"" is the latest code word for liberal activism, for treating the Constitution as malleable clay to be kneaded and molded in whatever form justices want. It represents an expansive view of the judiciary in which courts create policy that couldn't pass the legislative branch or, if it did, would generate voter backlash.
Betrayal, Crucifixion And Resurrection
What three words
emphasise Easter to all of us.
The three words we associate with it,
betrayal, crucifixion and resurrection.
Betrayal is what happens
when a friendship
is sold out by another
or lies are spread about our intentions.
Crucifixion is what we feel
when the backlash comes.
We feel the venting of someone’s anger
for something we have never done.
Resurrection is a process we go through
after the dust has settled.
We look around for a new start
somewhere nearer paradise.
As for those who betrayed us,
sadness now covers their brow
as they find themselves an outcast
for what they have done.
Maybe one day they might realise,
that things are not always, as they seem,
and they should leave well alone,
things of which they do not know.

Satellite Blues
She makes the place a jumpin'
The way she moves around
She like a rump and rollin'
That's when she get it out
And when she start a rockin'
She bring me to the boil
She like to give it out some
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
A picture clear for watchin'
The dish is runnin' hot
The box is set for pumpin'
She gonna take the lot
The way she get the butt in
She's gettin' set to ball
I like to chew it up some
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
Can't get nothin' on the dial
The frigin' thing gone wild
All I get's the dumbed down news
New satellite blues
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
I got the satellite blues (new satellite blues)
New satellite blues (new satellite blues)
This thing's nothing but a load of crap
I'm gonna send it right back
You can stick it where it hurts...
Mac!
I got the satellite blues

A Backlash Of Misunderstandings
We want to...
Control one's breath,
And each step they make.
We want to...
Have others say what we wish,
And dismiss them quick.
Caring less about them.
Or if they experience heartbreak.
We want to...
Prove to the Earth's inhabitants,
Our way of life and thought process...
Is throughout the Universe,
The very best.
We want to impress with this message,
That reflects...
Who it is we are,
As we thump upon our chests.
But,
Nowhere can we defend and keep protecting...
These delusions.
There seems to be assaults coming to us,
From every place we wish to share our good graces.
And all that we face...
Is a backlash of misunderstandings,
Of our extraordinary principles.
