Longfellow Serenade

Longfellow serenade
Written by: neil diamond
Longfellow serenade
Such were the plans Id made
For she was a lady
And I was a dreamer
With only words to trade
You know that I was born for a night like this
Warmed by a stolen kiss
For I was lonely
And she was lonely
Ride, come on baby, ride
Let me make your dreams come true
Ill sing my song
Let me sing my song
Let me make it warm for you
Ill weave this web of rhyme
Upon this summer night
Well leave this worldly time
On his winged flight
Then come, and as we lay
Beside this sleepy glade
There Ill sing to you
My longfellow serenade
Longfellow serenade
Such were the plans I made
But she was a lady
As deep as the river
And through the night, we stayed
And in my way, I loved her as none before
Loved her with words and more
For she was lonely
And I was lonely
Ride, come on baby, ride
Let me make your dreams come true
Ill sing my song
Let me sing my song
Let me make it warm for you
Ill weave this web of rhyme
Upon this summer night
Well leave this worldly time
On his winged flight
Then come, and as we lay
Beside this sleepy glade
There Ill sing to you
My longfellow serenade

Moonlight Seranade

I stand at your gate
And the song that I sing is of moonlight
I stand and I wait
For the touch of your hand in the June light
The roses are side you
A moonlight serenade
The star's are a glow
And tonight how there light
Sets me dreaming
My love do you know
That your eyes, are like stars
Brightly beaming
I bring you, and sing you
A moonlight serenade
Let us stray, till break of day
In loves valley of dreams
Just you and I
A summer sky
A heavenly breeze
Kissing the trees
So don't let me wait
Come to me tenderly in the June night
I stand at your gate
And I sing you a song in the moonlight
A love song, my darlin
A moonlight serenade
So don't let me wait
Come to me tenderly in the June night
I stand at your gate
And I sing you a song in the moonlight
A love song, my darlin

Sunset Serenade

I serenade my love at sunset
beneath the embers of a sleepy sun.
Just before it slips away
behind the distant mountains
to herald the coming of the night
when the purple hues envelope everything
and the night choir all begin to sing.
My love and I sit
as I sing my serenade,
our fingers linked together
as the light begins to fade.
We sip the nectar of love
at the closing of the day
and the world to us
seems a million miles away.
At a time, when day and night collide
and beckon evening tide.
We sit at peace with the world
and enjoy our sunset serenade.

My Desert Serenade

(words & music by stan gelber)
Come here my serenade, my desert serenade
A lovers melody, to bring you close to me
Its a tender lullaby, born of golden sand and sky
The song is new, and its calling you
Tonight beside the desert palms
Come let me take you in my arms
Come here my serenade, my desert serenade
Wherever lovers dwell, it weaves its magic spell
Soon a thousand dreams will start,
And romance will fill your heart
My lips conceal, love thats warm and real
Give me a chance to hold you near
Youll see a brand new world appear
So come and hear, my desert serenade, my desert serenade,
My desert serenade

Love Gone Bad

Sing me a song of love...
Sing me a song so sad...
Sing me a song of remembrance...
Sing me a song of love gone bad;

Write the words and the music--
In your own flamboyant sytle-
Accent it with elaborate details--
Fill it with your obvious guile;

Give it a melody thats catchy...
You know-a phrase like refrain...
About loves greatest ecstacy...
About its agony and pain;

And then sing a song of love...
And sing a song so very sad...
Sing me a song to show that you remember...
And sing a song 'bout love gone bad;

Give it all of your verve and elan...
Spice it up with a bit of rhytym and blue...
Make it a song that everyone identifies with...
Make its words right and true;

Make it an anthem...
Or make it a ballad flowing free...
Make sure the words tell it all...
With a most haunting melody;

And then sing a song of love...
Sing me a song of so very sad...
Sing me a song of remembrance...
Sing me a song of love gone bad;

I Sing A Sad Song

I sing a sad song for the cold, lonely
Moments no one will admit to aloud.

I sing a sad song for all of the broken
Promises,
Wrought by circumstances beyond
Anyone's control.

I sing a sad song for the faces pressing
Against the window panes in longing.

I sing a sad song for wild anticipation
Of days that never come.

I sing a sad song for the telephone
That never rings enough.

I sing a sad song for dreams woven of
Hopeless illusions.

I sing a sad song for all of those who
Waste time, singing sad songs!

Moonlight Serenade

Stars are aglow and tonight how their light sets me dreaming,
My love, do you know that your eyes are like stars brightly beaming?
I bring you and sing you
A moonlight serenade.
Let us stray till break of day
In loves valley of dreams,
You and i, a summer sky,
A heavenly breeze kisses the trees.
So dont let me wait, come to me tenderly in the june light.
I stand at your gate and I sing you a song in the moonlight,
A love song, my darling,
A moonlight serenade.
We can stay till break of day
In loves valley of dreams,
You and i, a summer sky,
A heavenly breeze kisses the trees.
So dont let me wait, come to me tenderly in the june light.

This Old Guitar

This song appears on eight albums, and was first released on the back home again album, and has also been released on the greatest hits vol 2, favourites, the country roads collection and the ro
Ountain collection albums. live versions also appears on the an evening with john denver, country classics and the wildlife concert albums.
This old guitar taught me to sing a love song
It showed me how to laugh and how to cry
It introduced me to some friends of mine
And brightened up some days
It helped me make it through some lonely nights
Oh, what a friend to have on a cold and lonely night
This old guitar gave me my lovely lady
It opened up her eyes and ears to me
It brought us close together
I guess it broke her heart
It opened up the space for us to be
What a lovely place and a lovely space to be
This old guitar gave me my life my living
All the things you know I love to do
To serenade the stars that shine
From a sunny mountainside
Most of all to sing my songs for you
I love to sing my songs for you
Yes, I do, you know
I love to sing my songs for you

I Sing

I sing to vent the pain that is sometimes in me
Other times I sing of happiness, jubilation and glee
Sometimes I sing in celebration and can rock out all night long
I sing of love through every ballad and heart wrenching love song
Sometimes I sing a song that is trapped inside my head
I sing it all day long, sometimes until I go to bed
I sing of memories, songs that mark pages in my past
I sing on holidays, great carols that last and last and last
I sing when I am working, then time doesn’t seem so long
I sing when I am lonely, there’s nothing like the comfort of a song
To me, to sing with all my voice is simply a blast
I hope to sing everyday of my life until I breathe my last

Four Times A Lady

Come on baby,
Well I got a little story,
Hey yeh,
Tell me are you with me,
Tell me are you with me,
Sing it,
Hey yeh,
Sing it sing it for me,
Hey yeh owhhh,
Tell me tell me baby,
All up in the crib on a Friday night,
Friday night,
Me and my guys looking oh so tight,
Oh so tight,
Bounce from the crib to the car,
From the car all the way to the bar,
Gotta wonder where you are,
Always loved you from afar,
Hope that,
Wait a minute there she is all up at the back,
Girl I really wanna come and get with you tonight,
Alright alright,
Owh girl you look so fine,
And I want you to be mine,
Well I had nothing to lose,
Thought I'd make my move,
Getting close to you is all I wanna do oh,
I can remember so clearly,
Trying to catch your eye,
You didn't notice me,
So Maybe,
Nows as good a time as ever,
Yeh,
So I asked her if she'd mind,
Could we share a little time,
Told me that would be just fine,
Couldn't believe I had her by my side,
Who'd ever thought she'd end up in my ride,
Straight to the top,
Girl you really make me hot,
Cos your just four times a lady,
Spinning around till the morning light,
Gonna be making sweet with her all through the night,
Straight to the top,
Girl you really make me hot,
Cos your just four times a lady,
Now she calls me up on the phone nearly everynight,
Just to make sure that i'm not feeling lonely,
Yeh,
She'd even come around telling me how she was feeling uptight,
Yeh,
Just so she could hold me,
So I said that take it all in for a minute,
She's the kinda girl you wanna have around who's all up in it,
Shes my everything,
Takes good care of me,
And she's all the things a girl's supposed to be,
Yeh,
I can't imagine living without you,
I love you,
Yes I do,
Never knew my dreams would all come true,
When I stopped to talk to you,
Saw you out with your girlfriends,
Thought she's so damn fine,
How I wish that she could be mine,
But everytime I saw her,
She'd always pass me by,
Never could catch her eye,
Couldn't believe I had her by my side,
Who'd ever thought she'd end up in my ride,
Straight to the top,
Girl you really make me hot,
Cos your just four times a lady,
Spinning around till the morning light,
Gonna be making sweet love with her all through the night,
Straight to the top,
Girl you really make me hot,
Cos your just four times a lady,
Now I must admit,
Since you came into my life,
Like a fairytale you made my world complete,
Ohhhh baby,
Well I feel you baby,
And the things you do,
Cos your everything more than a girls supposed to be,
And I really mean it baby,
And I want you to know,
Couldn't believe I had her by my side,
Who'd ever thought she'd end up in my ride,
Straight to the top,
Girl you really make me hot,
Cos your just four times a lady,
Spinning around till the morning light,
Gonna be making sweet love with her all through the night,
Straight to the top,
Girl you really make me hot,
Cos your just four times a lady (x2)
Your four times a lady,
Yes your are baby,
Your four,
Your four times a lady,
Oh yeh babe,
Oh yeh eh yehh,
When you said to me inside you felt the same

Another Song to Sing (Second Draft)

When the night is long and dark and cold
And there's nobody around for you to hold,
Don't forget, whatever night may bring,
Tomorrow is another song to sing.

When the night is cold and there's nobody to hold,
When there's darkness all around you and within;
Remember there's a light at the end of every night,
And every day's another song to sing.
So try to carry on and make it through till dawn,
And listen for another song to sing.

When the clouds hang heavy and so grey
That you can't bear to face another day,
Just remember that, in spite of everything,
Every day's another song to sing.

When everything seems grey and you can't face the day,
When you just wish the world would go away;
Remember there's a spring, once winter's had its fling,
And every day's another song to sing.
When winter turns to spring, those sunny days will bring
Another brand new song for you to sing.

When your heart's been beaten black and blue
And it seems your dreams are never coming true,
Try and find something to keep believin' in,
And listen for another song to sing.

When your heart is bruised and there's nothing left to lose,
And life seems like a game you'll never win;
Remember there's a friend waiting just around the bend
With another song for you to sing.
Remember you've a friend with a song that's newly penned
Especially for you and me to sing.

Sweet Music Man

I didn't listen, and I couldn't see,
And all I have left now,
Are words she gave to me
Sing me a song sweet music man,
'Cause I won't be there to hold your hand
Like I used to,
I'm through with you
You touched my soul with your beautiful song
You even had me singing along right with you
You said "I needed you"
But then you changed the words and that harmony
And you sang that song you'd written for me
To someone new
But nobody sings a love song quite like you do,
And nobody else can make me sing along,
And nobody else can make me feel
That things are right when they're wrong,
Nobody sings a love song quite like you.
Sing me a song sweet music man,
Your making a living doing one night stands
that do for you what you need them to
Your still a hell of a singer but a broken man
And you surround yourself with people who demand
So little of you
But nobody sings a love song quite like you do,
And nobody else can make me sing along,
And nobody else can make me feel,
That things are right when they're wrong
with a song,
Nobody sings a love song quite like you.
So sing me a song sad music man,
I believe in you

Sing a song

Baby! My Baby
Sing with me a song
At the sound of your voice
To mutual words of our choice
I will like a shot rejoice

Baby! My Baby
Sing with me a song
Together we can compose
With a lyrical structure
Watch our song transpose

We can sing a song of hope
Beyound any scope
You can change the tempo
I can go fast or you can go slow

We can sing a song of determination
Inspired by collective imagination
Baby, I am not here to compete
Or this song itself will not complete
Let’s put behind unwanted sorrows
Sing our hearts out until tomorrow

We can sing a song of harmonious hearts
Which no one should set apart!
We can sing of passion and romance
Release our tensions with a dance

Baby! Sing with me a song
I can feel it right inside my skin
For the words are rooted deep within
Lingering for your vocal touch
Yearning for your words so much

We can sing a song of faith
And how it is worth the wait
Together we can consume in delight
In the darkness or in the light
All that is wrong or right

The song I sing

The song I sing

I sing ta u the song I sing is joy
If you were gone then part of me would die
I would go on and leave part of me behind
for you and I are one in twined

I sing ta u the song I sing is faith
But the thought of you would never fade
the thought of blue sky's would turn to haze
I would prefer to help you through this maze

I sing ta u the song I sing is love
your very footsteps are notes to a song
and many loved ones sing a long
and of that chorus I belong

Awaiting Thee

When thou art gone;
I sing my lonely song.

When thou art gone;
My waking hours are filled only with thoughts of thee.
When I sleep,
My dreams are filled with thee-
As I long for thee.

My love;
I await thee-
Lonely day,
After lonely day.
Lonely night,
After lonely night.

When The sun shines bright,
And the songbirds sing their joyous chorus-
It reminds me of this love of ours-
As I long for thee.

I await thee,
My love-
Throughout the lonely day-
Till the setting sun dwindles in dusk’s twilight-
Beyond golden pastures-
Fading in the night.
My love;
I long for thee.

My love;
I await thee-
Throughout the lonely night,
As the crickets chirp their symphony,
And in the darkness,
Like floating candles,
The fireflies glow.

And I remember our love,
As I gaze at the silver moon,
And diamond stars.
Forever embracing this love of ours.

As I sleep at night,
I dream only of being with thee,
My love.

As I awake,
And the sun rises at dawn over the emerald mountain tops,
I await thee,
My love.

Longing for you-
Day through day,
Night through night-
I await thee,
My love.

My love;
When thou art gone;
I sing my lonely song…

Sing a Song Mother!

Sing a song Mother, sing again
for your daughter now grown
but sing again that lullaby
for her to sleep a while

Sing a song Mother, sing
again and caress her
sing for her and sooth
away her worries.....

Sing a song Mother, with
love and care
sing again that melody
to warm her heart...

Sing a song Mother, hold her tight
and sing again from your love
sing for her she needs only you
and sing for her to smile..

Sing a song Mother, sing again
for your daughter
sing again until she sleeps
on your loving lap...

Fly Me To The Moon

Poets often use many words
To say a simple thing
It takes thoughts and time and rhyme
To make a poem sing
With music and words I've been playing
For you I have written a song
To be sure that you'll know what I'm saying
I'll translate as I go along
Fly me to the moon
And let me play among the stars
Let me see what Spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, darling kiss me
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing for evermore
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing for evermore
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

Lonely

I ride lonely lonely waves
Two worlds below multitudes beyond
Just as you said I'd ride lonely
But lonely I don't mind

I sing lonely lonely songs
Two songs below multitudes beyond
Just as it is be low low lonely
Lonely I don't mind

It hammers at hours chisels forms of time
It hammers lonely Luna tunes of change
To end up a late verse forgotten rhyme
Not a single lonely with which to exchange
