like the whispering wind you sent to me
like the hopeless time you gave to me
i watched your dreams all slip away

there's a hopeless place inside my heart
when i look inside i see where we are
like the whispering wind in the top of the trees
i will watch the sky come following me
like the rain on my windows late every night

On the desert

On the desert
A silence from the moon's deepest valley.
Fire rays fall athwart the robes
Of hooded men, squat and dumb.
Before them, a woman
Moves to the blowing of shrill whistles
And distant thunder of drums,
While mystic things, sinuous, dull with terrible colour,
Sleepily fondle her body
Or move at her will, swishing stealthily over the sand.
The snakes whisper softly;
The whispering, whispering snakes,
Dreaming and swaying and staring,
But always whispering, softly whispering.
The wind streams from the lone reaches
Of Arabia, solemn with night,
And the wild fire makes shimmer of blood
Over the robes of the hooded men
Squat and dumb.
Bands of moving bronze, emerald, yellow,
Circle the throat and the arms of her,
And over the sands serpents move warily
Slow, menacing and submissive,
Swinging to the whistles and drums,
The whispering, whispering snakes,
Dreaming and swaying and staring,
But always whispering, softly whispering.
The dignity of the accursed;
The glory of slavery, despair, death,
Is in the dance of the whispering snakes.

But all I hear is him telling me that he loves me.

The wind is running his fingers down my hair.
Just like he.

Quiet Thunder

The whisper comes
so close
feather light
on my face,
warm
to my cheek,
a low
Quiet Thunder.

Whispers
are where intimacy lives
where moments freeze
where time is mesmerizing;
all faculties
peak;
alert
anticipating another
whisper-leaf tone
falling
to my ear
still half asleep.

But the content is clear;
someone is whispering
'I love you'

Only the intimacy
which comes on
whisper wings
floats true.

I imagine
God's first call
was
a whispering one.

That Love's first utterings
were not loud
but soft
rustlings
from a softly lilting heart.

Sadly too.
my moms last words
were whispers;
her breath
wispy
tailing off
whisper lost.

Most of my real moments-
small child hurt
or comforted-
come in whispered tones
or moments said
'You'll be alright.'

All in all
its clear
whispers come
when the soul speaks
which is why I listen
to the Quiet Thunder
they represent.

All Alone in a Library

The break and crack
Of the book bearing shelves
While on this floating mass
No one knows where I am
But no one knows to ask.
I am all alone
Feeling so horribly bad.
However,
The sound of people walking past,
Is all I have to last,
Me the day.
Me the day of writing,
Of whispering,
Of talking to myself.
I would talk to not only me,
But there is no one else.
I am all alone,
On my own,
Writing, Whispering,
Time goes by.

I am waiting to die.

A white-frosted sea, the frosting
goes on and on, crests of white
everywhere, glistening rocks lining
the beach, white frosting on marine
blue – a sea too beautiful to leave;
how do we turn back to the inland
spot where we have to live?

Waves in long, parallel lines, bluish
white, whispering, Come back to me,
the sea’s bridal gown more resplendent
than before, the groom’s voice more re-
sonant, whispering Come to me, I am
your delight; a symphony of cascading
lace, communing with the sea

In a new dimension; the sun hiding
behind a cloud, the cold wind giving
me a chilly embrace, the white-frosted
sea beneath me in my eyrie of rocky
beach-house height, whispering beautifully,
I love you... Attired in a beautiful gown,
lacy white, I cannot turn away

The groom’s voice a whisper of enchanted
delight – a bridal sea bedecked with jewellery,
shimmering in beguiling shades of white, I
have never seen such a bride...
