The Beautiful Game
As you step on to the muddy field,
You feel the joy rise inside you,
The crowd roars as the players take up there positions;
And your team gets ready to kick off.
As the game commence all nervousness is lost,
Replaced by a sudden adrenaline rush,
The play goes back and forth, forth and back;
But you run on still,
nothing else concerns you but the ball.
It goes on as such for many minutes,
Until your rivals get a chance,
Your goalie tries but to your despair the ball finds the back of the net;
The crowd boos in anger and frustration.
The very next play the ball comes to you,
You run up the wing blasting by defender after defender,
You see an opening in the keeper’s defences;
You wind up to shoot and…
TWEET! You’re tackled by a defender,
Penalty shot declares the ref,
To the opposition’s protest.
You place the ball on the penalty spot,
And the once roaring crowd goes silent,
Thousands of eyes are upon you unspeaking and unforgiving,
As you wind up to shoot all time seems to stop;
And Suddenly time resumes to the roar of the crowd
And your teammates swarming around you,

The great Algonquin park,
lush forest of great unknowns,

And She Was Silent But She Knows I Am Defending Her
she has been silent for long like a drifting
cloud, those white feathery ones on a
clear sky, a fine weather
like her disposition today wanting to be left alone so she can think like a deep
river, the dark deep one less the crocodiles that swallow whole her thoughts
and i am considerate about this indifference of a healing
wound, the one that has been there paining her as she puts
more betadiene and red merthiolate because some big flies are coming in
like an uninvited
visitor, the one that does not send you notice and neither brings you
at least a daffodil for your empty vase by the window
well, i know that in your silence you always keep me by your side the defender of your past
lapses, those that give you embarassment, those that almost kill you but i

Human Video Game

Ever since I was younger, I was into video games
Tron or whatever, it didnt matter the name
Thousands of my dollars, have been poured
Into all types of games, tryin to get the high score
But now I think I have a favorite
Its me against an ape, hes got my girl, Ive got to save her!
Oh no, I feel an attach comin on
Yo ready rock c I wanna play a game of donkey kong!
{ready rock does the entire intro and starts beatboxing after}

It used to be a problem this addiction I have
I would feel the urge, then Id go stark raving mad!
Break into the arcade, screamin and hollerin
Anticipatin puttin twenty-five dollars in
Any machine, I was out of control!
I didnt need quarters I brought, $10 bank rolls
Bags of quarters, I was insane
People thought that I worked there, and asked me for change
But I would get defensive and yell, leave me alone!
These are my quarters stupid, go get your own!
Dude walked away with this look in his eyes like,
Yo man.. I wonder whats wrong with that guy?
I was addicted, a video burn-out
And I would crazy when the guy would have to turn out
The lights at midnight, Id fall on my knees and say,
Have a heart pal, one more game please?
Some nights I might sleep on the subway
Or outside of the arcade til it opened up the next day
And when it opened at a quarter to ten
It was the same old thing all over again
I was doin bad, my future was bleek
Id rather play games than eat or sleep
Until one day, this guy came along
He didnt have a radio but he was playin a song
I got curious, so I said, yo!
Whats that noise? {what noise? I dont know!}
No fool, that noise you was makin there!
{what this? ! *starts beatboxing*} yeahhhh!
That was def man, whered you learn to do that?
{man, I dont know, I guess I always knew that
I had this talent deep down inside

He made sounds like I never heard before
And he still had more!
Then he got me hyped when he played this incredible song
And I +lost my mind+ when ready c played donkey kong

Furnished And Burnished
My feet beat a rhythm across the Shopping Arcade floors,
and in through the swinging doors.
Up speeding lifts, to counters packed with attractive goods
and gifts.
Now, making straight for the place where there is glamour
for the face, one spies lipsticks by the score, so many
shades that one cannot but adore.
I must buy more.
That concealing blemish cream which smoothes on like a dream,
Is a must. They still stock it, I trust.
Eyebrow pencil in colour ‘blonde’, which just has to be donned,
and mascara in black.
I think I’m on the right track.
Some shadow for the eyes too, in gold, brown, silver, or blue.
It’s so reflective and so effective.
My countenance is now furnished and burnished. Such finesse.
And now I have to confess, that I am ready
to launch a new me, with a new philosophy.
So with my shopping complete, my feet retreat and beat
a rhythm across the Shopping Arcade floors,
and out through the swinging doors.
