Xmas In February

Sam was lyin in the jungle
Agent orange spread against the sky like marmalade
Hendrix played on some foreign jukebox
They were praying to be saved
Those gooks were fierce and fearless
Thats the price you pay when you invade
Xmas in february
Sam lost his arm in some border town
His fingers are mixed with someones crop
If he didnt have that opium to smoke
The pain would never ever stop
Half his friends are stuffed into black body bags
With their names printed at the top
Xmas in february
Sammy was a short order cook
In a short order black and blue collar town
Everybody worked the steel mill
But the steel mill got closed down
He thought if he joined the army
Hed have a future that was sound
Like no xmas in february
Sams staring at the vietnam wall
Its been a while now that hes home
His wife and kid have left, hes unemployed
Hes a reminder of the war that wasnt won
Hes the guy on the street with the sign that reads
Please help send this vet home
But he is home
And theres no xmas in february
No matter how much he saves

Happy Xmas

(happy xmas kyoko
Happy xmas julian)
So this is xmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is xmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry xmas
And a happy new year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is xmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy xmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight
A very merry xmas
And a happy new year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
And so this is xmas
And what have we done
Another year over
A new one just begun
And so happy xmas
We hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry xmas
And a happy new year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over, if you want it
War is over now

Naughty On Christmas

[verse 1:]
You and me together alone
Fireplace, watchin the snow
Holding me up in your arms, watcha wanna do?
Im in the mood to put it down slow
Catchin you under the mistletoe
[chorus:]
Tonight is just for you and me
You can cut my xmas tree
Baby its alright to be naughty on xmas
Ill slide down your chimney
Misbehave its cool with me
Baby its alright to be naught on xmas
[verse 2:]
Melodie soothing the soul
Baby please dont say no
I know you got mine too
And you dont have to wrap it up (Im cool)
Youre all I want for xmas eve baby, thats the truth
No, we dont need no toys, you give me xmas joy
Well spend this holiday together like all lovers do
[repeat chorus]
[bridge:]
I just want to lay and cuddle boy, I love you babe
Dont you feel like causing trouble on this xmas day?
If I had to choose it wouldnt be no other way
I know it dont sound right but its okay

Father Xmas Song

Father xmas
Will be working all night today
So that he can deliver all the christmas presents on time
To the children and their families
Father xmas
Is living his workshop now
In his reinder to deliver the Christmas presents
To all the houses here at home
Father christmas
Won't have any time to sleep at all
Because all the christmas gifts have to be delivered by christmas
And he has to follow the clause in his contract or otherwise he will get fired
And he could even make the children upset
Because there will be no presents to open at christmas
Father xmas
Goes down through the chimney
And then he comes out in the living room of the houses
Inside of the living room of the houses at christmas time
Father xmas will find the christmas tree decorated and lighted up
Father xmas
Eat his shortbread cookies and drink his glass of milk

Merry Xmas Everyone

A very merry merry Xmas to everyone on earth,
May I send all my love to all and just leave me but dearth,
You see if all my love is gone for sending it all to you's,
Ringing out with merry merry Xmas news.
I know it will return a thousand fold with jingle jingle bells,
With everyone around their own wishing wells.
The festive season is near
So everyone have a happy happy new year.

An babies new have a happy nappy new year too

February Has Returned To Normal

After a week of summer sun
February returned to normal.
Grey skies to the horizon
and a light falling rain.
It is the February
that we all know so well,
and the sunshine
while it lasted
was an unexpected bonus to us all.

Christmas Cards

Every year we send Christmas cards
And every year I ask myself:
Why do we send Xmas regards
To our friends who unlike ourselves
Hardly ever reciprocate?
The cost is not cheap I might add;
But my wife always steers me straight.
She says, “.you and I should be glad
To be blessed with so many friends.
A friend always transcends the cost
Of a card. Who cares if they send
Or not, or if their cards get lost
In the mail. The greatest pleasure
giving can never be measured.”

February

February’s time is short,
But it’s my first resort.
Filled with chocolates, flowers and cheer,
It’s my favorite month of the year.

I love how each day shines
As they spread forth with valentines.
It’s a month dedicated to love
In this world of push and shove.

So stop and think of what really counts,
Like people and times that are small amounts,
But give your life meaning like February...
Fill your days with love so make them merry.

Second Sunday...

february is fickle
one gets inside a room, closes the door,
and spreads the mat and
turns off the light, but february does not
sleep, it boasts of love
till dawn,
there is an exit door at the left side
of the room
covered by a waterfall and
the sound of
birds mating, you know, calls, like that,

somehow, february is fun,
funny, makes the hearts of lonely people beat again,
dances under the moon,
begins to love again the rain at midnight
plucking rusty guitar strings
and kissing moonbeams
passionate as the
night blanketing the tall trees
erect to the
cold.

i like february, but i have none
for now.
the second sunday may prove
myself wrong,

she is coming, literally.

A Sunny Day In February

I stood by my car and looked down
at the still waters of the small lake below.
Several anglers with their rods cast
sat on small chairs along the lake bank.
Sheep grazed in a field
with not a care in the world,
on a sunny day in February.
The blue sky seemed
to stretch forever everywhere.
Peace drifted across everything
that was there
on this sunny day in February
at the farm I go to.

Home Away From Home

I walk down the small path
bordered either side by bluebells.
As I walk down the path
which I have done hundreds of times before.
There is a stirring in the trees,
which prompts my memories,
of faces that have come and gone
over the passing years.
Also comes back the laughter
that never seems to subside
and all the jokes
we’ve played on one another.
I smiled as I stopped for a moment
to look around at everything there.
It seems like only yesterday
that I came along here,
but in reality, the years have flown by.
Some faces I remember
will never be coming back to visit,
while the others I might see someday.
Even when the sad day comes
when I can’t come anymore.
I will leave with many photographs
in my memory store.
A few more steps I take
and the town comes into view
along with friendly faces
on the boardwalks there.
There are a few whose names I forget,
but the faces I know so well
in this little town
I call my home away from home.

Valentine Comp Poem 2

The heart shaped card with pretty words
Be my Valentine, my dear
Is there because the poor old man
Knows if the old lady doesn’t get one
She’ll box his blinkin’ ears

9 February 1992

Author’s Note:

This little poem was read out on radio between 10 February and 13 February and won a box of heart shaped chocolates for my lady fair.

Red Roses

Red roses for a lady blue
just to show her
that your love is true,
that you will never wander
with the setting of the sun
and that she will be at your side
for a long, long time to come.

Red roses are a symbol
of love eternally
when you give them to someone blue.
It spells out love for eternity
and the month of February,
when winter begins recede
comes a day of flowers, Valentines Day.

Special cards with hearts
printed all over them,
red roses for love true
just to stop the lady
feeling sad and blue.
Red roses to say a simple thing,
darling I love you.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

My aunt gave me a turkey to give to my brother who
lived in the neighbouring town, I cooked the fowl first
to stop it going bad and put it in a bag, went down to
the post office to send it, but the place had closed for
the day. Took the bus to my brother’s town, but when
arriving I had forgotten his address, asked the doorman
at a hotel, who new my brother, to show me the way,
only to find when we got there that I had left the bag
on the bus. Got lost trying to find the bus terminal,
I didn’t know brother’s phone number I also resented
the fact that aunt had given him the bird because he
was the oldest, leaving me with all the work, so I got
fed up and left; but I couldn’t get home as no bus was
going my way. Down at the docks there was a steamer
ready to sail for Djibouti, with a cargo of frozen turkey
for the presidential army, she needed a cook, so I sign
on, but did sent brother a cable telling him where his
turkey was. Too late, the bus driver, since no one had
claimed it, took the bird home and had a feast.

Christ - The painstaker

Christ, the painstaker
On this day of Xmas
Let us recall with love and reverence
the Christ, the painstaker

His message simple, clear and loud
Love thy fellow men and reach out to help
You will ever be remembered
the Christ, the painstaker

Born in the darkness of midnight
He enlightened us with the brilliance of
Awareness on human love and compassion
the Christ, the painstaker

Earned the name good shepherd
Demonstrating again kindness to
Even the innocent, much innocent
That they know not even who the caretaker is
the Christ, the painstaker

He preached us many things
But practised many more
All pointing out to one important
How to turn simple from being wise
the Christ, the painstaker

He showed that to become powerful
You do not require to have power
But all you need is love
the Christ, the painstaker

It is time we stopped moving away and away
From our own people in the name of growth
Let this Xmas make us more loving and loveable
the Christ, the painstaker

Sown Home Town

The world outside don't like us much,
'Cos they ain't got our classy touch,
But they ain't good enough to breathe,
This towns good air we make 'em leave
CHORUS
But it's no, no, no,
you really can't do that,
No, no, no,
down home town
No monkey business in this town,
Well who do you think you're pushing 'round,
This towns respectable and clean,
Just look around you'll see what I mean
CHORUS Repeat
Down home town
Down home town
Down home town
Down home town
Down home town
Down home town
CHORUS Repeat
We got the best town band around,
Just listen to their crazy sound
When they get hot they gonna blow,
You see them running every show
(I wish I was in the land of Dixie
Look Away...)
Down home town,
Gotta get down
Down home town
Gotta get down
Down home town
Down home town
Down home town
CHORUS
(I wish I was in the land of Dixie
Look Away...)

Soldiers Dream. for Friend Thad

Across the bridge over the stream
then down the path to the sea shore.
Where I was wont to sit and dream.
When I was young before the war.

My country called and I obeyed.
I joined the ranks of fighting men.
Although I would have rather stayed.
I thought I’d soon be home again.

I did not know that I would die
along with many thousands more
Who lie beneath a foreign sky.
Far from their home for evermore.

I lay and bled amongst the dead
and as my life blood drained away
I wished that I could be instead
back home dreaming beside the bay.

The path way leading to the sea
The wooden bridge across the stream.
I seemed to see them vividly.
A dying soldier’s final dream.
