September Song

When I was a young man courting the girls
I played me the waiting game
If a maid refused me with a tossing curls, oh,
I let the old earth, take a couple of whirls
While I plied her with tears in prays of pearls
And as time came around she came my way
As time came around she came
For its a long, long while, from May to December
And the days grow short, when you reach September
And I have the lost my tears, and the walking in the little rain
Hey honey, I haven't gotta time for gaining Waiting Game
And the days turn to crawl(?grow old?) as they grow few
September, November
And these few colden(?golden?) days I'd like to spend 'em with you
These golden days, I'd like to spend 'em with you
And the days dwindle down to a precious few
September, November
And I'm not quite a quip for the waiting game
I have a little money, and I have a little pain
And these few golden days, as the days grow so few
These golden days, I'd like to spend 'em with you
These precious golden days, I'd like to spend 'em with you
September song, September song
September song, September song

Oh its a long long time from may to december
And the days grow short when you reach september
When the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame
And you aint got time for waiting game
When days dwindle down to a precious few
September november, and these few golden days Id share with you
Those golden days I share with you
When the days dwindle down to a precious few

September Song

Well, its a long, long time
From may to december
But the days grow short,
When you reach september.
And the autumn weather
Turns the leaves to flame
And I havent got time
For the waiting game.
And the days dwindle down
To a precious few . . .
September, november . . .
And these few precious days
I spend with you.
These precious days
I spend with you.

September

If there's a month to remember
it must be September
and remember it we do.
For the summer has baked all in its sight
and we are ready for the view
of cooler days
and apples to munch,
and cider to drink
along with our lunch
The days will grow shorter
and the nights will linger
and sweaters and scarves will be worn.
The moon in the sky will start to turn orange.
And we'll remember September in the morn.
Yes the month of September, the one we remember
makes me happy that I was born.

Come Out From Your Shell

30 days has September!
April, June and November;
So, come out of your shell if you have the muse of love to share! !
Because, this poem is all about you;
And, all the rest of the months have 31 days!
Except, February alone which has 28 days,
But 29 days in a month for every leap year! ! !

Sonnet- My Ultimate Wish?

Could I not spend my days talking to God?
My precious time is spent in daily food;
If all spend lives holy, it will look odd;
Man's knowledge of the Divine is so crude.

Could I not spend my days walking with God?
What earthly work we do to save this frame!
Why do we hanker for earthly reward?
We waste God's time in sin without much shame.

Could I not spend my days thinking of God?
My thoughts are just on things of earthly mould;
Oh, how we wish that human beings laud?
Yet, without God, our hearts and souls grow cold.
Oh, how I wish I had more time for God!
Whose love for man comes with a kindly rod.

Holy September

A kiss on the lips of today
For stepping into tommorow.
The blinds are closed for now.
Don't sell yourself for sorrow.
Oh! Precious my september.
Begins with all the stars.
Buses from the summer.
In september driving cars.
Praising my september.
Praising all my needs.
Sends me to tomorrow.
September grows my seeds.
Officers of my journey.
With love inside the day.
The tolerance of my wonder.
The tolerence of my dismay.
Nestled in september.
You've wakened from those dreams.
Oh holy, my september.
The cloth around my seams.
September shines around me,
Like the sun onto my day.
September my september.
Is there any other way?

Come September

Come September,
when two of nature's seasons live as one,
where days of summer shed their final afterglow
'ere falling gently 'neath an autumn's rising sun,
and every hanging bough and turning leaf will know ~

the green meets gold,
within the murmurings and turnings of trees
that flutter their branches in a restless dance
of impending change. Their limbs akimbo, as arms,
waving goodbye...watching autumn advance,

yet, summer pleads,
to share the days of changeling September
and clings to every breath of autumn's eve ~
spreading warmth and sultry breeze with waning movement
while knowing time grows short, and it must leave,

as beauty stays,
though, not for long, for gold becomes gold
after summer's sung her final song,
and lustrous are the days and nights made bold
with autumn's breath blowing chilly and cold ~

O'grieve September,
though, not for long, as gold turns into winter white,
then into green with 'springing' guile,
and summer's sight brings back September,
to share a season's remembered smile.

September

September approaches.
Laboring its pace,
From the haste of August
Delighting still...
With whirlwind gatherings.

September prepares...
With chopped wood,
And heat devices checked.
And fresh new experiences for some,
Beginning indoctrinations young!
Learning to start days...
With a discipline no one fully accepts,
Or expects anyone to ever crave!

Amusement parks begin to close.
Although the rollercoaster of holidays,
Will upon us all impose...
To exchange our carefree dispositions.
For the onslaught of traditions,
And schooling tuitions!

Yes...
This is the September that is known.
With a mixture of enlightenment that comes...
Textured with our groans!
As we get all of our choices set...
Remembering the quickness of September's plunge,
Can leave us cold on some days and on others in sweat!

Old Friends Of Mine

The songs they were singing from the golden days of our spring. When laughter rang out from those old friend of mine.

Where have they gone in the passing of time, and where are they now those old friends of mine.

The years have clouded the memories of them. The grey hairs are showing, how long has it been?

Oh where did they go? The friends of my youth. The flames of a young life and the passions we knew.

The days are shorter. Life still goes on. Our children are playing like we used to do.

Will they remember the friends of their youth when they get our age in their September song?

Oh where have they now those old friends of mine?

September

Maurice white, charles stepney & verdine white
Do you remember the 21st night of september?
Love was changing the minds of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away
Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing.
As we danced in the night,
Remember how the stars stole the night away
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in september
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day
My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart to see you
Only blue talk and love,
Remember how we knew love was here to stay
Now december found the love that we shared in september.
Only blue talk and love,
Remember the true love we share today
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in september
Ba de ya - never was a cloudy day
Ba de ya - say do you remember
Ba de ya - dancing in september
Ba de ya - golden dreams were shiny days

Ive Been Out Walking

This song appears on the album for everyman as these days with slightly different lyrics.
Ive been out walking
I dont do too much talking these days
These days
These days I seem to think a lot
About the things that I forgot to do
And all the times I had the chance to
I stopped my ramblin
I dont do too much gamblin these days
These days
These days I seem to think about
How all the changes came about my way
And I wonder if Ill see another highway
And I had a lover
I dont think Ill risk another these days
These days
And if I seem to be afraid
To live the life that I have made in song
Well its just cause Ive been losing so long
Well Ill stop my dreamin
I dont do too much schemin these days
These days
These days Ill sit on cornerstones
And count the time in quartertones to ten
Please dont confront me with my failures
I had not forgotten them

Silence In September

Sometimes when I laugh I feel so guilty
For a moment I've forgotten, then I remember the sounds of your laughter and my eyes mist
I haven't come to accept yet the absence of your laughter
Silence of a home has its own agony

I never knew there would be a September without you
September with its endless sadness, its loneliness

Everything reminds me of you -- the color of wild flowers,
the smell of autumn air, the sound of creek water flowing over rocks, the mournful sound of a dove--
Small things I never noticed before

Death brings such poignancy, such humility
One is left so defenseless
Before I was never aware that the mornings rays of a September sun are somehow different
They appear to have a more golden glow as they caress the leaves
Perhaps sensing a coming farewell

Time is meaningless now
Our hearts broken
Something infinitely precious was stolen away from us
Days are long
Some we don't know how we'll get through
We feel so wasted, so empty, an eternal emptiness without you

Change Of Weather

September came along
and brought with it
a change of weather.
The humid days
were suddenly cold and windy.
A few, very nice, cool, fall days,
managed to slip in,
even though it wasn’t quite fall yet.
So, as I do every September,
I emptied out my closet of
t-shirts, and short sleeved shirts.
With all that room in there
I decided to fill it with my winter shirts,
even though I didn’t need them, just yet.
And don’t you know,
I got caught again?
No sooner did I get the summer shirts away
and the winter ones out -
what happens?
There’s a change of weather.
The warmer days kicked in again.
I sure can use those t-shirts now.
But, I’ve got them packed away,
and away they’ll stay.
This is the time of year
when the weather doesn’t know
if it wants to be warm, cool or cold.
Well, I can always roll up the sleeves
on the long sleeved shirts, should I need to.
With changes of weather
as it is these days,
I’d rather play it safe.

The September 19th

I was the favorite of them all
They knew i will always stand tall
and never will i fall
ON TILL THAT SEPTEMBER 19
I had played the hero
I never knew i will be down to zero
ON TILL SEPTEMBER 19

I got to know my true friend
those i thought, wanted my end
they were always playing second
how could i know? if not for that day
SEPTEMBER 19

were all fall apart
Just 8 days to my lovers birthday
just 8 day for a dream to come true
27 was all i got, but the storm got rude
now it was like, i stop to exist
i saw my name in death list
tears flow as my thought went freeze
ALL ON THE SEPTEMBER 19

Now all i got is my bible and me
Just a friend that i can't see
gave me hope has i read
a friend and a lover

September Grass

Well, the suns not so hot in the sky today
And you know I can see summertime slipping on away
A few more geese are gone, a few more leaves turning red
But the grass is as soft as a feather in a featherbed
So Ill be king and youll be queen
Our kingdoms gonna be this little patch of green
Wont you lie down here right now
In this september grass
Wont you lie down with me now
September grass
Oh the memory is like the sweetest pain
Yeah, I kissed the girl at a football game
I can still smell the sweat and the grass stains
We walked home together. I was never the same.
But that was a long time ago
And where is she now? I dont know
Wont you lie down here right now
In this september grass
Wont you lie down with me now
September grass
Oh, september grass is the sweetest kind
It goes down easy like apple wine
Hope you dont mind if I pour you some
Made that much sweeter by the winter to come
Do you see those ants dancing on a blade of grass?
Do you know what I know? thats you and me, baby
Were so small and the worlds so vast
We found each other down in the grass
Wont you lie down with me right here
September grass
Wont you lie down with me now
In this september grass
Lie down
Lie down
Lie down
Lie down
(repeat)
Wont you lie down here right now
In this september grass
Wont you lie down here now
In this september grass

There Are Days

There are days when everything
we touch crumbles within our hands.
These are the days when we wish
time would rush on by.
However, it never seems to go that way.

There are days when we feel
by just reaching out we could touch the moon.
On these days, we want
the hours to drag on by.
However, they seem to rush passed too swiftly on their way.

September Girls

written by: Alex Chilton
Main Voice: Michael
September girls
Do so much
And for so long
'Til we touched
I love you, boy
Never mind
I've been crying
All the time
December boys got it bad
December boys got it bad
September girls
I don't know why
How can I deny
What's inside
Even though I
Keep away
They will love
All our days
December boys got it bad
December boys got it bad
When I get to bed
Late at night
That's the time he
Makes things right
Ooh when he makes
Love to me

September Days

'Twas the last time that I need you
'Twas the last time that I love you
'Twas the last I'm gonna say your name

Now you're begging for forgiveness
Sorry boy I can't forgive you
'Coz you've now broken my emo heart

Pre Chorus:
The sunlight's already gone down
The roses already wilted up
But sometimes...

Chorus:
I miss your loving ways
That I lost during
Those September days
I hope that
You'll be back someday
I want you to be the same

September's day is dying cold
The days are coming back to me now
Ring out the grief that saps your heart
And let yourself run Into my arms again

September Song

For my wife
On our forthcoming 37th Wedding Anniversary on the 12th of September.

With the summer closing fast upon us,
we sing our September song.
How wonderful all the years have been,
our trouble no more than a ripple
on an incoming ocean tide.
As I fondly remember that day long ago,
when you consented and became my bride.
The choir sang Ava Maria;
I became the proudest man in the land.
I think I had more nerves than you.
My legs were like wobbling jelly,
and as I recall I almost muffed I do.
The sun was out and stayed that way,
throughout the day with your family and mine,
friends and other relations.
It was a wonderful time.
September sang to us a song,
even long after that day had long gone.
