Magdalena
Writers: danny okeefe
Magdalena sits in her chair
Speaking on the mass
She talks in splice and splinters
She laughs not breaking glass
She said that she would have me
Spirit her away
Stealing all my images
Till theres nothin left to say
Oh, magdalena
Nothing like the saint you are
Your love is like a razor
My heart is just a scar
Oh, magdalena
Nothing like the saint you are
She tells me that she wants me
Then she tells me not to bother
She tells me that I couldnt hold
A candle to her father
She knows that shes got me
When I start to rave about
Shell justsmile and flash her eyes
And blow the candle out
Oh, magdalena
Oh, ho, ho, magdalena
Nothing like the saint you are
Magdalena lying there
Could make a dancer stumble
Make a preacher bite his tongue
And leave him with a mumble
And if you think Im crazy babe
Or that Im kiddin you
Just pay your dues and lose your blues
When she gets her tongue in you
Oh, magdalena
Nothing like the saint you are
Your love is like a razor
My heart is just a scar
Oh, magdalena
Nothing like the saint you are
Well, I cant be forgotten
And I cant be ignored
You find me with my poems
And my songs
But if upon your journey youre turning to l.a.
Wont you take this little red-haired girl aong?
Oh, magdalena
Nothing like the saint you are
Your love is like a razor
My heart is just a scar
Oh, magdalena
Nothing like the saint you are

Romance In Durango
Hot chili peppers in the blistering sun
Dust on my face and my cape,
Me and magdalena on the run
I think this time we shall escape.
Sold my guitar to the bakers son
For a few crumbs and a place to hide,
But I can get another one
And Ill play for magdalena as we ride.
No llores, mi querida
Dios nos vigila
Soon the horse will take us to durango.
Agarrame, mi vida
Soon the desert will be gone
Soon you will be dancing the fandango.
Past the aztec ruins and the ghosts of our people
Hoofbeats like castanets on stone.
At night I dream of bells in the village steeple
Then I see the bloody face of ramon.
Was it me that shot him down in the cantina
Was it my hand that held the gun?
Come, let us fly, my magdalena
The dogs are barking and whats done is done.
No llores, mi querida
Dios nos vigila
Soon the horse will take us to durango.
Agarrame, mi vida
Soon the desert will be gone
Soon you will be dancing the fandango.
At the corrida well sit in the shade
And watch the young torero stand alone.
Well drink tequila where our grandfathers stayed
When they rode with villa into torreon.
Then the padre will recite the prayers of old
In the little church this side of town.
I will wear new boots and an earring of gold
Youll shine with diamonds in your wedding gown.
The way is long but the end is near
Already the fiesta has begun.
The face of God will appear
With his serpent eyes of obsidian.
No llores, mi querida
Dios nos vigila
Soon the horse will take us to durango.
Agarrame, mi vida
Soon the desert will be gone
Soon you will be dancing the fandango.
Was that the thunder that I heard?
My head is vibrating, I feel a sharp pain
Come sit by me, dont say a word
Oh, can it be that I am slain?
Quick, magdalena, take my gun
Look up in the hills, that flash of light.
Aim well my little one
We may not make it through the night.
No llores, mi querida
Dios nos vigila
Soon the horse will take us to durango.
Agarrame, mi vida
Soon the desert will be gone
Soon you will be dancing the fandango.

The Beginning of the Armadilloes
I've never sailed the Amazon,
I've never reached Brazil;
But the Don and Magdalena,
They can go there when they will!
Yes, weekly from Southampton
Great steamers, white and gold,
Go rolling down to Rio
(Roll down--roll down to Rio!).
And I'd like to roll to Rio
Some day before I'm old!
I've never seen a Jaguar,
Nor yet an Armadill--
He's dilloing in his armour,
And I s'pose I never will,
Unless I go to Rio
These wonders to behold--
Roll down--roll down to Rio--
Roll really down to Rio!
Oh, I'd love to roll to Rio
Some day before I'm old!

Crucifix
Do not cry for me, Mother, seeing me in the grave.
I
This greatest hour was hallowed and thandered
By angel's choirs; fire melted sky.
He asked his Father:"Why am I abandoned...?"
And told his Mother: "Mother, do not cry..."
II
Magdalena struggled, cried and moaned.
Peter sank into the stone trance...
Only there, where Mother stood alone,
None has dared cast a single glance.

Elena (Twice Raped)
Born 1830 'Elena De Magdalena' in Mexico
Was kidnapped by Comanches at age nine or ten
At 13 she married a war chief named Ebi Pui
She was seen by Comanchero traders now n' then
At age 18 Elena was rescued by Mexican soldiers
Who had surprised her captors one early morn
She was taken back to her Mexican family
Where she was met with disdain n' with scorn
'Why did you not fight them or kill yourself'
Elena's grandfather said in a loud cry
She answered;
'Grandfather sometimes it takes,
More courage to live than to die'

Sinner Or Saint
Stand bold, for the ride,
Right now, you know that is the place to be
To watch humankind, stumble into another century
Take no prisoners,
Their sure at giving you the run-around
Violance, on your mind,
Cus your attention is the battleground
What are you?
A sinner or saint
You gotta be
A sinner or saint
Ice cool walawyers,
Straight up and guerentee your gonna get
All that you deserve,
Sit down, blockin your way, seen nothin yet
(chorus)
What are you?
That is your fate
You gotta be
A sinner or saint
Some poeple love too fast
Some people live too long
And so Ive got to ask
Do you know right from wrong?
Disa-ssembler, will you ever, really be a saint...
Still on for the ride,
Who cares if you loose or win
They can bleed you dry,
When youre, a pumping the adrenelin
(chorus)
What are you?
Its never too late
You gotta be
A sinner or saint..

Saint Valentine defines Tough Love
When those you most love
die
that's the time to speak in praise of love
(said Saint Valentine) .
When those you have most loved
up and go, without a word,
that's the time to speak in praise of love
(said Saint Valentine) .
When those you would most love
want nothing to do with you,
that's the time to speak in praise of love
(said Saint Valentine) .
When you feel that all you need right now
is a little love, to change your life,
that's the time to speak in praise of love
(said Saint Valentine) .
When you feel cheated by love
because it's never come your way,
that's the time to speak in praise of love
(said Saint Valentine) .
Trust me. It's not easy to become a saint;
said Saint Valentine.

Prayer to St. Francis
'The eyes of the saint make all beauty holy and the hands of the saint consecrate everything they touch.' Thomas Merton
Look at me, O Saint,
sagging skin,
thinning hair, face
lined with roads
too far traveled.
Can you see
in me God's
beauty?
Then touch me!
O take into
your holy palms
my living heart.
Fill me with desire!
Make of me
a holy psalm,
consecrated host,
eternal fire.

The Fable Of Jesus
The Fable of Jesus
Jesus was skeptical of his own tribe, as a trainee carpenter he was
lousy couldn’t even make a simple bookshelf, they kidded him for that.
Jesus took umbrage and criticized the roman clinging priests.
He took to hanging out with a group of radicals of the day and since
he was good with words he soon became their leader.
There were a few groupies circling around his association, like Magdalena,
but they were for sexual enjoyment and not taken seriously.
Being admired by his flock Jesus thought he could take on the church and
the roman establishment, like when he chased money lenders out of
the temple. He was wrong. When they mocked him and crowded him
a king, he thought the people would come to save him.
Crucified, but women came to his rescue, healed his wounds and
sent him to France, where he took the name of Pierre.
He and his mistress, the despised tart Magdalene, had seven children
and he ended his days as a much respected goldsmith.

St Louis Blues
I hate's to see dat ev'nin' sun go down
Hate's to see dat ev'nin' sun go down
Cause ma baby, she done lef' dis town
If I feel tomorrow lak ah feel today
Feel tomorrow lak ah feel today
I'll pack up my trunk, and make ma git away
Saint Louis woman wid her diamon' rings
Pulls dat man 'roun' by her apron strings
'Twern't for powder an' her store-bought hair
De man she love wouldn't gone nowhere, nowhere
Got dem Saint Louis Blues I'm as blue as ah can be
Like a man done throwed that rock down into de sea
Got dem Saint Louis Blues I'm as blue as ah can be
Went to de gypsy get her fortune tole
To de gypsy, done got her fortune tole
Cause she most wile 'bout her Jelly Roll
Now dat gypsy tole her, "Don't you wear no black"
She done tole her, "Don't you wear no black
Go to Saint Louis, you can win him back"
If she git toCairo, make Saint Louis by herself
Git to Cairo, find her old friend Jeff
gwine to pin herself, right there, to his side If she flag his train, she sho' can ride
And she sang
Got dem Saint Louis Blues jes as blue as ah can be
Dat man got a heart lak a rock cast into de sea
Or else he wouldn't have gone so far from me
Doggone it!
I loves day man lak a schoolboy loves his pie
Lak a Kentucky Col'nel loves his mint an' rye
I'll love ma baby till the day ah die
Now a black-headed gal makes a freight train jump the track
Said a black-headed gal makes a freight train jump the track
But a long tall gal makes a preacher ball the jack
Lawd, a blonde-headed woman make a good man leave the town
I said a blonde-headed woman make a good man leave the town
But a red-headed woman make a boy slap his pappy down

A Valentine's Day Message
May the Valentine's Day spirit fill your heart
With love and joy on this special day.
A time to exchange messages - a spirit of love,
Sentimental verses sent in a poetic way.
Valentine's Day has long been a day of romance,
A sparkle of love glowing in the heart,
A tribute to your love one so precious and dear,
Where the tradition of Saint Valentine plays a part.
May Valentine's Day be extra special to you
With the beauty of red roses to proudly show,
And the symbol of a heart and cupid with arrow and bow
That will enlighten your heart with a festive glow.
May you have joy and satisfaction unending
Bestowing to love one jewelry, candy or flowers
To prove your sincere affection on Valentine's Day
With memorable, happy and unforgettable hours.
May those you love surround you
To share and cherish this Valentine's Day,
May the spirit of Saint Valentine, the patron saint,
Come into your life and forever stay.

Miss Mary
Angels announce with trumpets
Crown you with jewels and stars
Hercules lives
Next door to venus and mars
Beside your pretty blue shoulder
Something may trouble jerome
Now that youre up with your friends
I know youll never come home
Singing so babe, I know this song
Miss mary Im nothing without you
Everything Ive done is wrong
Miss mary I try not to doubt you
I walk in their brilliant parade
Banish the primitive gloom
Now I know where I can find you
Hung up in some frenchmans room
Pitiful magdalena for all to see
Must have been beautiful
So just show a little mercy to me
Hey babe, I sing this song
Miss mary Im nothing without you
Everything Ive done is wrong
Miss mary I try not to doubt you
There at the foot of your staircase
I stood to take in the scene
All the ashes of roses
The veined steps of marble
Purple, gold and green
Oh I wish you were my queen
They only want to possess you
Lock you away in a vault
Such a heavenly vision
And dress you up in blue
I guess its not their fault
I know this song
Miss mary Im nothing without you
Everything Ive done is wrong
Miss mary I try not to doubt you
So babe, I sing this song
Miss mary Im nothing without you
Everything Ive done is wrong
Miss mary I try not to doubt you

Goods Train
I was so upset of firing from the job by my ruthless boss
And I missed the last bus.
I walked towards the dark Railway Station
And I heard a train hoots from a far away.
'Oh! What are you doing here in the late midnight? '
A woman stands with triplets and I am sure that she's pregnant too.
Because I noticed her belly has expanded a little.
'Where is your partner the father of these children? ' I questioned.
She didn't say anything and I found the answer from her gloomy talking eyes.
Oh! It's a dilemma and is there any place in this cruel World for them to rest unless my little hut?
But my beloved would grumbles though she loves children.
Definitely she would ask are you going to be the father of this unborn innocent?
My poor wallet not so sound as usual for the two full tickets and three halves.
Never mind and it's a Goods Train so we could hide somewhere like in a Cowboy movie.
When we go home I'll explain her: 'Hey! Darling do you remember, here is our far relative Maria Magdalena who lived in Good Shepherd's Era? '
But it's really a Tug of War and a challenge living with two women under the same roof.
*My Kingdom does not belong to this World.[ Biblical]

0109 Upon the Feast of Saint Valentine
roses are red
(well, some are white) :
Saint Valentine says
he needs poets to write...
roses are red
(well, some are pink) :
Saint Valentine says
he needs hearts expressed in ink..
poems are read;
that's the good news here;
Saint Valentine's day
could last all year...
